Field Guide

Field Collection Guide

Observe. Record.
Don't interpret.

You're helping map stray animal conditions in real-world environments. This data generates insights for animal welfare and tourism stakeholders.

Golden rule

Under 10 seconds per report

If it feels slow or complicated, keep it simple and choose the closest option.

Your role

  • Observe real situations
  • Submit quick, accurate reports
  • Do not interpret or analyze — just record what you see

Good vs not ideal

Good

"Dog observed near garbage, thin, no human interaction"

Not ideal

"This area has a lot of stray dogs and seems unhealthy"

Quick checklist

What makes a good submission

  • Based on what you see right now
  • Quick and consistent
  • One observation per submission
  • Multiple submissions are encouraged

What to avoid

  • Don't estimate numbers (no guessing)
  • Don't combine multiple locations
  • Don't overthink — pick the closest option
  • Don't write opinions or explanations

Photos & frequency

Photos (optional but helpful)

Take a quick photo if possible — focus on the animal or environment. Don't chase the "perfect" shot.

Submit often

Multiple submissions per day are helpful. Repeat visits to the same area are valuable.

One spot at a time

GPS is captured automatically. Submit a separate report for each location.

Consistency > perfection

Your observations directly contribute to identifying patterns, hotspots, and solutions. Thank you for being part of the global StrayAdvisor project.
